Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game that has been with us for nearly 45 years.
Most of that time, it held the reputation of being a game played only by the nerdiest of nerds. With the popularization of Twitch and other streaming services, some have begun to stream their games and now the hobby has started to become even more popular. However, D&D is not the easiest hobby to get into.

There are a great many rules to learn and mechanics to figure out. That is why Wizards of the Coast, the publisher of D&D and other games, has recently announced an Essentials Kit for newcomers.
The kit will feature a 64-page rule-book instructing newcomers in how to create their own characters by utilizing five classes, and contains a new adventure called Dragon of Icespire Peak, an adventure that will take said new players from level 1 to level 6. D&D has always been a group activity, often requiring at least five people to properly play the game. But with this new kit, there will be a new set of rules that will allow for one-on-one play between the dungeon master and one player.
The kit also coincides with the announcement of D&D’s new adventure book, Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus. The adventure will see the players go from level 1 to 13 in the dismal city of Baldur’s Gate, wrapped up in plots attempting to thwart Zariel, the devil lord of Avernus, which is the first layer of the Nine Hells.

The Essentials Kit shall release in Target stores on June 24 and then everywhere else on September 3 for $24.99, while Descent into Avernus will release on September 17.
